520 _aMongolia marks the transition between predominantly north-south shortening in the ~outh from collision of the Indian and Eurasian plates, east-western extension asso~iated with the Baikal Rift system to the north. In this century western Mongolia has been one of the most seismicaly active intracontinental regions in the world with four earthquakes with magnitude (M) ~ 8 have occurred. The dominant type of active faulting in western Mongolia is strike-slip in nature: left-lateral on easterly trending planes in the 1905 Bulnay and Tsetserleg earthquakes and the 1957 Gobi Altay and right-lateral on a north-north-westerly trending Fu-yun fault in 1931. Geodetic measurements of the rates and styles of deformation throughout the region would provide necessary constraints on models of central Asia, and will allow for better understanding of earthquake processes in general and the future earthquake hazard in Mongolia. Active tectonic is to research intracontinental mountain building and territory of Mongolia could be ideal field laboratory to conduct this type of investigation. For this purpose it is suitable to research origin of fault, development, relationship of different fault kinematics, exploration of formation. Most effective method with wide coverage in this research can be occurred by GPS measurements. In order to conduct GPS estimation, it is needed to s.et up several stations covering various areas of earthquake activity to conduct measurements.
