Furthermore, the hazardous intersections among the selected 73 intersections in Khon Kaen Municipality were also identified by employing the newly developed method of Survival Probability Method and the traditional approach of Rate Quality Control Method. To utilize information of trauma registry for measuring casualties' severity, the survival probabilities of accident casualties adapted from TRJSS methodology were predicted from their severity scores, and ages. The survival probabilities of casualties were used to estimated their casualties' severity-reduction of survival probabilities of casualties measured between before and after accident occurrences. An average casualties' severity of accident occurrences was defined as severity index. The severity index per exposure base was defined as severity-index rate. Then, this severity-index rate was used to identify the hazardous intersections. To develop new approach to identify the hazardous intersections, variations of severityindex rate and approached traffic volume were set as criteria to identify hazardous intersections. This method was based on the survival probability developed in this study so called Survival Probability Method (SPM). Applying the SPM to evaluate 73 selected intersections, there were seven intersections that were identified as hazardous intersections. These were: Mittraphap - Ban Kok, Pracha Samosorn - Klung Muang, Pracha Samosorn - Ruajit, Pracha Samosorn - Sri Chan, Na Muang - Lao Nadee, Klang Muang - Lao Nadee, and Kasikhon Thongsang - Na Soonratchakan. Comparing between results by using the SPM and the RQCM, only two intersections were listed as dissimilary while the SPM classified seven hazardous intersections; the RQCM classified five hazardous intersections. The five hazardous intersections were the same intersections among these two techniques. Moreover, the results obtained by using both techniques were checked by employed McNemar test. Results of the test revealed that the results of evaluation by two methods have no significant difference. The traffic accident database was also developed in this research study to store information of traffic accidents. The information were allocated according to their characteristics. This research also presented the standard accident report form for using in accident investigation. To facilitate recording data into computer, this research also provided computer-input form. To obtain information from other databases, the accident database was provided index keys that can be used to set relationship with other databases. | ||
