520 _aIn this study, a method to solve the problem of time lost by trucks in waiting during unloading of the cane at the factory was studied. The system could be divided into five sub-systems. The queuing model was selected to explain system behavior.System efficiency was evaluated by mathematical model for server utilization and probability the trucks wait. Bottleneck of the systems occurred at unloading station. For this increase of factory capacity was suggested. Based on the simulation, if the factory capacity is increased every 1000 tons/day, more about 74 trucks could be served. However, due to the limitation of initial cost, time, and balance of cane quantity this guideline could not be accepted easily. Therefore, truck arrival rate adjustment was suggested. Registration system was developed in order to distribute the arrival of trucks to another period. However, it still had limitations about the readiness, convenience of the farmers, labor, truck driver etc. These factors may cause not sufficient cane supply in the time reserved. Arrival rate adjustment by queuing management, free- and controlled system was also done. Free-system management was able to encourage the farmers to harvest and supply cane to the factory in the beginning- and end-season, but the number of cane supply during peak-(mid-) season exceeded factory capacity. Therefore, controlled system was used. It was found that the number of cane during peak-season decreased to about a little over the factory capacity. Adjusting the utilization of 10-wheels trucks was also considered. If the 10-wheels trucks utilization reached 100% the total number of trucks waiting in front of the factory would be reduced to about 46.97%. Unfortunately, 100% use of 10-wheels trucks is not practiced because of the limitations of the quantity of 10-wheels trucks the farmer/driver have,and due to its weight it cannot run in some cane fields that are too moist. The study of queue interfering was also done.
