| 520 | _aThe problem of rubber plantation management is formulated as a problem in control theory . The production of rubber trees depend on intra-rotation activities (maintenance ), stocking density, and the age of rubber trees. Th e objective of t h is study is to maximize the present value of all the future net profits over a class of in finite chain of rotation where each link in the cha in represents a uniform length rotation with identical intra-rotation activities. The optimal control is determined by applying the Pontryagin's Maximum Principle. Since data on effects of maintenance to the production is difficult to get, qualitative analysis is used in applying the control model . By using present value comparisons , the optimal rotation time T, stocking density So , and the age of restocked trees To are determined. The optimal tapping system is also determined by choosing the most profit able tapping system. | ||
