520 _aThe capacity of cutting equipment depends on the acting load. Nevertheless, the acting load on the cutter face of shield has not been clear. The last year research made clear that the pushing resistance, which does not appear in the design of shield capacity, is an important component of the acting load. This study aims to make the model of pushing resistance on Cohesionless soil by different scale model tests. In this research study, Axial force and torque behavior exhibited in dry compact sand (relative density of 100%) have been investigated. Pushing resistance, as a major component of cutter torque, has been found to be the function of speed ratio (v/f), radius (R0 and Rj) and the number of cutter path (P n), which is different from the theoretic equations. Based on the experimental results the model equations for pushing resistance have been proposed. As the stress concentration occurs at the tip of the cutter bits, the friction concept does not satisfy the test model and two constants known as influencing factors At and b have been introduced to describe the model. These parameters both are found to be the function of face angle (Uc) and clearance angle (y c)ยท
