520 _aUrban fire is usually threatening to the physical and economical gains as well as to the sustainable development of the city and it can draw back the existing infrastructures and economic development. The study area of this research, Yangon City is being challenged of the urban fire in yearly. This research mainly focused on the assessment of the urban fire vulnerability due to the housing factors especially in construction materials and energy sources for lighting and cooking along with building density in different temperature, rainfall and relative humidity for different months. The geo-coding for the past urban fire incidences made a digital and spatial database for the urban fire incidence records in the study area. This study has analysed the seasonal trend of past urban fire incidences to detect the peak season of the urban fire within the study area. In this study, the level of urban fire vulnerability was identified by applying the housing factors of different types of construction materials for external wall type, floor type, roofing type, and different sources of energy for lighting and cooking as the urban fire vulnerability index by using Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) to gain the relative importance of each factors. Moreover, as the building density is one of the most important contributing factors not only to the urban fire but also to the other urban development and management, the building footprints detection was necessary. That{u2019}s why the building footprints for the study area were detected from the Bing Maps satellite images by using the in-house program for the automated building footprints detection that has been developed by the Centre of Spatial Information Science from the University of Tokyo was applied. Additionally, the relationship between the urban fire incidences and the climatic conditions especially the temperature, rainfall and mean relative humidity has been analyzed. Finally, the result for the urban fire vulnerability was detected by means of raster and vector data analysis method in GIS. The potential area for urban fire vulnerability with five different levels has been predicted based on the housing factors of the urban fire vulnerability index, building density and climatic conditions by applying the method of AHP.
