520 _aMinimum non-jacket structures are suitable for marg inal oil and gas fields with reducing cost of the whole project. Minimum non-jac ket structures, which provide less reserve strength and redundancy than conventional j acket type structures, show unsatisfactory performance to satisfy vortex sheddi ng and human performance on the topsides. The specific objectives of the study are to design suitable minimum platform structures for the marginal fields in the Gulf of T hailand and to investigate the suitability of the structures against Vortex Shedding induced V ibration (VIV). According to the definition specified in API-RP2A WSD Edition 2005, five models of the minimum non- jacket structures are applied for the study. The wa ter depth of 20-40 meters and the soil data are generic for studying the effects of the wa ter depth and the soil data to serviceability criteria and vortex shedding. The in vestigation of vortex shedding effect is only on the detection of the possibility of the occ urrence of VIV on the structures. The results are presented as frequencies in each mode. The occurrences of VIV both in-line and/or cross-flow are verified following DNV criter ia. The dynamic amplification factors are plotted to clearly show the position of occurri ng the resonance on the member.
