The city of Yangon is mainly faced by urban flood regularly by natural factors and additional anthropogenic influences. To overcome the risk, the capacities on resilience are essential in enhancing related strategies and adaptation. Thus, this research aims at resilience assessment to flood in multi spatial scale and multi discipline due to natural and anthropogenic factors of Yangon city. The approach for this study has been constructed based on concept of DPSIR framework to analytically link the main causes, their impacts and responding capacities. Mixed qualitative and quantitative methods are used to analyze primary and secondary data collected from different sources. Data analysis techniques include Rapid Impact Assessment Matrix (RIAM) and InteRa framework analysis for the assessment of urban flood resilience. The results show that main causes of urban flooding are identified as natural and anthropogenic factors which intended to growth in population rate, economic growth and increase rainfall, urbanization, loss in ecosystem and green space and additional solid waste issues. These are causes are negatively affected mainly to socio-economic and physical infrastructure. In order to make city resilience, response capacity should be promoted. In order to response these causes and impacts, four different categories: administrative aspects, economic and financial aspects, technical aspects and intuitional aspects are considered. From the results, it is found that economic aspects and technical aspects are consider as low response for current response capacity. By utilizing DPSIR as a tool, it can help to understand the overall condition of how these issues have affected to the resilience or response capacities through multi sales. Moreover, by assessing resilience in multi-level to can enhance interaction and collaboration between each sectors, aspects and areas. Further studies can apply or assess flood resilience from different point of view by monitoring real-time data, focusing on most vulnerability components or comparative with risk assessment measures. Apart from flooding resilience, the concept of resilience can assess to other disasters. | ||
