520 _aThe flooding in the city has become more frequent as the population rapidly increasing, urbanization, unplanned development and climate change. This phenomena are not only damages lives and environment but also impacts of economy, health, social and transportation. In urban areas, flooding is caused by several reasons: the rise of the water level in the river through the city high tides for coastal cities, poor operation of drainage system, and each of drainage systems maintenance etc. Flood management requires an understanding of the causes and flood forecasting in order to take appropriate action, including issuing warnings can b e taken to reduce the impact of floods. The most important things needed for flood forecasting system is a real - time data on rainfall and runoff. The real time urban drainage system that integrated flood forecasting and real - time hydrological data can prov ide a powerful tool in the prevention and management of floods. The main objective of this study is to develop real - time urban drainage system at Sukhumvit area, Bangkok, Thailand for up to dated modeling meteorological forecasting. Applications inherited from rainfall and flood forecast, e.g. forecasted data such as water level in drainage system and the flood ma p, are made public through the i nternet. This real time urban drainage system is not only helpful for the urban flood control operators in decisio n making for efficient urban flood management to minimize flood damages in the city but also for the public in planning activities and avoid traveling to flooded areas.
