| 520 | _aTourism industry is the second-greatest source of hard currency after the textile industry in Cambodia. In 1993, after Angkor was added to UNESCO's World Heritage List, only 7,650 visitors ventured to the site. In 2006, almost 900,000 tickets were sold, and 3 million visitors are expected in 2010. Ta Prohm temple is the second target after Angkor Wat temple in Angkor region. Over capacity of tourists at the temple causes traffic jam and produces bad effect on the temple. The author did a non-representative survey among tourists and travel agencies and in-depth interviews with authorities and consultants focusing on their behavior and attitudes toward the quality, stress, impacts and responses towards Ta Prohm temple. Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) is working on the restoration and facilitation of tourists' flow while APSARA is studying new alternatives to disperse tourists to reduce 'stress' on the site. Tourists and travel agencies are aware of the danger and agree to follow the guidelines, if any so as to preserve the temple for future generation. Base on the findings, reinforcing the exiting regulation and introducing informational and soft law policy instruments should be enough and in accordance with the country's needs of revenue from tourism. | ||
