Air, bus and rail passenger flows between Seoul and Pusan, Korea - Bangkok : Asian Institute of Technology, 1984 - 101 p. - Thesis ; no. GT-83-29 . - Asian Institute of Technology. Thesis ; no. GT-83-29 .
A thesis submitted m partial fulfillment of the requirement for the degree of Master of Engineering, School of Engineering and Technology
Thesis (M.Eng.) - Asian Institute of Technology, 1984
Passenger flows of air, bus and rail on the Seoul-Pusan corridor were investigated to identify the explanatory variables which describe changes in the various passenger flows through time , and to develop forecasting models for each mode using stepwise regression, Group Method of Data Handling, and Box-Jenkins methods . Specifically, the rail passengers were classified by f our classes dependent on the level o f fares a nd journey time. The competition effects between modes, losses in passenger revenues of rail due to the opening of the competitive expressway buses, and the possible introduction of a new high-speed railway line in the corridor were discussed. The mod e l s derived f o r each mode were verified and compared.
