Bangkok is a newly industrialized city, and the use of hazardous substances in many sophisticated industries has induced the same problem of hazardous wastes which have been faced by many development countries. Bangkok must learn from the past experiences of industrialized countries before the problem becomes serious. Bangkok currently has a few reports on hazardous waste management. However, there is no specific method to dispose the hazardous waste from different sources. A survey, by questionnaire, of different points of view on hazardous waste management has been conducted. Lack of public awareness and corporate responsibility about the problem are the common symptoms in the private sector; the underenforcement and inconsistency by the government are the problem that Bangkok has to solve in order to overcome the increasing hazardous waste management problem following rapid industrialization. A strategy for hazardous waste disposal is suggested based on the results of this study.
