| Summary, etc. | For a Website to deliver its messages or for an e-commerce Web site to deliver its global sales, careful consideration of how potentially culture-specific content is portrayed on a Web site is of paramount importance. Satisfaction and perception of a Web site vary according to different cultures (Simon 2001). The Web is intrinsically a global medium. Consequently, deciding how a Web site should express potentially culture specific content to worldwide visitors ts an important consideration in Web site design. In this paper, we will first review the concept of culture and make a focus on the dimensions of culture from Hofstede (1997). Then we will identify associated design elem.en ts, and discuss the opportunities for enhancing Web communications through cross cultural focuses in order to convert "tourists" or "browsers" to "residents" and "customers." |
