SeriesSeries: Asian Institute of Technology. Internship Report ; no. TC-23-01Publication details: Pathum Thani, Thailand : Asian Institute of Technology, 2023Description: 48 leaves : ill.+ 1 online resourceSubject(s): Online resources: Dissertation note: Internship Report (M. Eng.) - Asian Institute of Technology, 2023 Summary: Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) are becoming increasingly popular in smart facto ries due to the abilities to improve logistical flow and reduce labor costs. This report rep resents the design and development of Internet of Things (IoT) based automated guided vehicle forklift tracking system that was conducted during the three months of intern ship at the National Electronics and Computer Technology Center. This system utilizes two TFMini-SLiDARsensorsmountedontheforklift and ESP32 microcontroller. One sensor is used for object detection in the vicinity of the forklift while the other sensor is used for load position. The use of sensors is a common approach in AGV research. The sensors are connected to an ESP32, and the programs are written in Arduino IDE and uploaded to the ESP32. The codes are designed to read data from the sensors, establish MQTTcommunication and publish data to MQTT brokers for monitoring. The system aims to improve the efficiency of the material handling process of the factory by inte grating real-time shop floor monitoring and analytics systems with AGV based material transportation. Although the system is still under development, it has the potential to revolutionize the way the AGVs are operated. The project{u2019}s implementation could be extended to other AGV applications in smart factories, such as AGV route planning, navigation approaches, and AGV system capacity calculations for further enhancement of the efficiency and productivity of smart factories.
